FC Barcelona have paid an initial instalment on Neymar`s planned transfer from Santos. The European champions have paid the South American club – who they defeated in the final of the Club World Cup on Sunday - €10million (£8.4m) in return for an unilateral option to sign the forward at any point until 2014. Barcelona are expected to pay around €60m (£50.4m) should they complete the transfer.

Even though there are a few loose ends still to be tied up, José Manuel Pinto said during his press conference that negotiations with FC Barcelona are going well and that he is close to signing his contract renewal. "The renewal talks are advanced, it’s coming along. I’m very happy," the keeper confirmed.

He might be too old to be useful after next year, but until then at least we know the squad will have some killer hip hop beats to listen to lol

None of the B keeper projects as a starter

Oier probably has the most potential, but I don’t believe he’s good enough to be a backup to Valdes.

Correct me if I'm wrong but...

Wasn’t Ruben Mino chosen ahead of Oier for the Spain U21 that won the world championship last year? Of course, we’re talking about a backup to De Gea in any case…

No need to correct you

Ruben did go to Denmark with the U-21 team and not Oier, however, he was the No. 3 keeper (Diego Mariño was the first backup to De Gea). While that was the case, Ruben and Oier are splitting playing time this year and Oier has been more consistent of the two. Also, when Pep has needed a third keeper he has recently always called up Oier and not Ruben, while the situation was reversed until about six months ago.

Lol..atleast neymar has an excuse..he's young..and potentially more talented

But no its not a sure thing..id wouldn’t complain if it does happen but my guess is in the summer..and that’s a big maybe..

Well..if its true then great!:)

He couldn’t go to a better club or get a better coach to grow..but i honestly think its the media hyping it all up cause of the whole neymar vs messi CWC final..his dad did say there was no deal..so
