FC Barcelona News: 27 August 2011; Barcelona Win UEFA Super Cup, Xavi Breaks All-Time Trophy Record

Lionel Messi scored after 39 minutes as he capitalised on Freddy Guarin's poor back pass to stroke the ball into the net. Cesc Fabregas was introduced in the second half and sealed Barca's victory with a well taken goal, finishing from six yards. The Portuguese side had Rolando and Guarin sent off late on to complete a miserable ending to the match they started brightly.

AC Milan are now just behind Barça, with 7 Champions Leagues, 2 Cup Winners Cups and 5 Super Cups, whilst Madrid (12), Liverpool (11) and Ajax(9) trail them. The last 4 seasons have seen the Club charge up the table of continental trophy winners , with Pep Guardiola guiding them to 2 Champions League and 2 Super Cup victories.

Recently promoted Rayo Vallecano have brought in former Spain international Raul Tamudo on a one-year contract.The 33-year-old has enjoyed a long and successful career in the Spanish top division, largely with Espanyol, with whom he spent 14 years and topping the club's all-time goal scoring charts.

So many great things

Xavi, Barca breaking records, Messi is just well Messi, Cesc could have his best year yet ect.

Then when you look at everything else, the pretty picture isnt as pretty as we thought. The FFP can they handle the crises? how are they going to police the top clubs? Players not getting payed, and top of all that theres a Mourinho!

Not Tamudo again

We are away to Vallecano in week 36, after we play Madrid at home. We better have wrapped the title up by then.
