I like this line ups

With Madrid attacking, it’s either a big win for our team or a big loss, unfortunately I don’t see the latter happening

If anyone cares

Liverpool are 1-1 with Man City. Yeah, I think it’s pointless too :P

Oh

And Bilbao are heading through to the semi-finals to face Mirandes, leading 1-0 at this stage and 3-0 on aggregate. Yeah, I don’t care either :P
Bring on the main event already!

I wished we had gotten Jose Enrique

He’d basically be Maxwell + 1 million, he’s Spanish, left full back, and he’s entering his prime (26 years old).

by Luis Mazariegos on Jan 25, 2012 9:52 PM CET reply actions

really?

He’d only warm the bench with Abidal around.

True but for the price it's a good deal

Mascherano is a bench player, and he cost, what 20 million? Adriano is a bench player too, about 14 million? And in attack, we have to bench either Villa (40 million), Alexis (around 30 million) Cesc (around 30 million as well)… maybe Dani Alves, who was around 30 million as well.

5 million for a bench player of that quality, why not?

Uniform question

I know that Barcelona has those 2 road shirts. Why do they still wear the traditional blue and red for the road leg of this round of Copa del Rey? Is it just for the Classico?

by LEastCoastBears on Jan 25, 2012 10:24 PM CET reply actions

It's not home / away, it's 1st choice / 2nd choice

The home team is allowed to pick first. If the away team’s colors aren’t similar, they’ll choose their 1st choice colors. Since Madrid play in white, Barca can play in red and blue without any confusion, so they do. If Barca played, say, Manchester United away, they would go with their second choice uniform (Black this season) since MU plays in red.

by LEastCoastBears on Jan 26, 2012 12:01 AM CET up reply actions

who's to say this won't create more locker room discord.

if reports are true: players want to attack, Mourinhou wants to defend and counter. this game reinforces both sides. down 2-0 when attacking in first half, it didn’t work. but 0-2 later when pressing even more, so it did. each camp could conceivably entrench their position with the result. unlikely but possible.

I really hope u guys would stop with the pessimism at this point…we deserved to have won that match by half time…i lost count of how many of their players should have been sent off..
In the end losing iniesta and alexis for this sucked:| but what a time for Pedro to score(and hit form?) and that strike from Dani??a goal like that alone deserved qualification…
I unfortunately no longer doubt that the refs are either blind or trying everything possible to make sure Madrid win..but like our inspiring coach i refuse to go into it..besides the man did say Madrid will score and it would be a tight match:)
oh and for any madridstas reading this ‘karma is a bitches ain’t it?’ all that cheating and kicking is gonna come back to get ya:D

I have to disagree with one point:

The refs are not in anyone’s pocket. Not Barca, not RM, not anyone. The goal was correctly disallowed in my view, but a biased referee doing “everything possible so that RM will win” would have allowed it.

voila

Well that is what happens. I am pessimistic, we dominate the game. i am optimistic, we make mistakes. Our team almost gave up in the end seeing Madrid fighting for the win. However, fate is on our side. Poor game from us today at home. Maybe because we were complacent ( well even Pep " The problem with this game is that we have already qualified and they are already out, and yet we still have to play"). We were not serious about this game. Maybe it is because we lost Iniesta before we settled into the game. But imo it is because of the former reason. Anyway, win is a win and Barcelona won, but it will be hard to face Madridista tomorrow because they were synonymous to football today.
