Segunda side Cordoba provided the Copa del Rey with it's first "shock" of 2012-13 by knocking Real Sociedad out, as the mid-table side defeated their La Liga rivals 4-2 on aggregate
Provided Barcelona find their way past Alaves tomorrow evening, the Blaugrana will face Segunda side Cordoba in the next round of the Copa del Rey. Cordoba were very much the underdogs headed into their two-legged tie with La Liga side Real Sociedad, but a 2-0 home victory, followed by a 2-2 draw at the Anoeta was enough to secure the Anduluscian's progress as the expense of Philippe Montanier's men. Previously coached by a former Barcelona legend, Ladislao Kubala, Cordoba's last appearance in the top flight of Spanish football was way back in 1971 which tells you all you need to know about the size of the club relative to Barca's.
Granted, Cordoba did defeat Barcelona B a couple of months ago, but one would assume that the Blaugrana will have no problems in booking their place in the quarter-finals.
