FC Barcelona News: 5 February 2012; Barça Record Three Points Against Real Sociedad, Lose Busquets

We should see much more of this youngster in the future.

FC Barcelona - Real Sociedad: Three points in the freezing cold (2-1) | FC Barcelona
Barça prevailed over the difficulties that the weather and the Donosti team set them thanks to goals from Tello and Messi in each half in front of a 52.646 crowd who braved the Siberian temperatures at the Camp Nou. The negative for Guardiola's men was the injury to Busquets – just after he had come on in the second half.

Josep Guardiola: "They are putting in a titanic effort" | FC Barcelona
"I have reverence and gratitude for all of them," he said. He then went on the congratulate Tello, Cuenca and Dos Santos "for the great match that they played." The manager also expressed his eagerness "to get back some of the [injured] players little by little." Guardiola noted that his curtailed squad is putting in a "titanic effort" each match especially considering the amount of injured first-team players.

Busquets out with an injured knee | FC Barcelona
Sergio Busquets sustained an injury on the inside of his right knee that will require stitches. His recovery will mark his availability for upcoming Cup and League matches. The Barça midfielder only managed to be on the Camp Nou pitch for seven minutes. He came in, replacing Carles Puyol, in the 68th minute, but after a collision with a Real Sociedad player he needed to come off the pitch.

Star-divide

Guardiola equals Frank Rijkaard | FC Barcelona
With the win this Saturday, Pep Guardiola brings his tally of games won on the FC Barcelona bench to 160. The manager has only conceded 44 draws and 18 defeats in his three and a half years at FC Barcelona. His record has allowed him to guide the first team to 13 titles out of 16 played since he was named head coach.

The youngster was particularly pleased that Barcelona had claimed a victory which ensured that they remain seven points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid, who defeated Getafe 1-0 earlier in the evening, and insisted that the Catalans can still retain their title. "We worked hard to win this match because we needed [the win]," he enthused.

Valdes hails Barca youth - Soccerway
Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has labelled the La Liga powerhouse's youth system as the world's best. After seeing Cristian Tello score his first goal for Barcelona in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad, Valdes was eager to heap praise on the Camp Nou outfit's system to churn young players through to the senior ranks.

Left out in the cold - bumbling Barcelona face a confidence crisis as Real Madrid remain robust in La Liga - Goal.com
On the coldest night in recent memory in the Catalan capital, Barcelona almost froze at Camp Nou on Saturday. With David Villa one of a host of stars sidelined by injury, Lionel Messi misfiring slightly and Xavi rested once again as a precaution ahead of Wednesday's Copa del Rey return against Valencia, Barca's problems were mounting.

Madrid grind out win at Getafe - Yahoo! Eurosport
The game took place in fierce wind, and despite the high quality of the Real line-up, free-flowing football was rare. Ramos’s 18th-minute goal separated the sides, and though Getafe were only ever a moment of inspiration away from victory, they scarcely threatened.

Agent: Lazio offered more than €10m for Villarreal's Nilmar - Goal.com
"Lazio began to deal with the player and Villarreal last Monday evening, less than a day before the window closed. Despite the restricted time, the two parties were very close to reaching an agreement. [Lazio president] Claudio Lotito made an offer of more than €10 million. Unfortunately for Lazio and their supporters, nothing came of it."

...tello should have had a second goal right?

Watched the game again and it looked like alves was behind the goal line when the ball hit him…so the question of offside shouldn’t have come in

It was very close

From the replay I couldn’t see if the ball was completely over the goal line when it hit Alves. If it was then it should’ve been a goal, if not then it was offside.

very close, true

but don’t you think the referee should have erred on the side of “it was going in anyways”? I think RSO could not have been too upset with the call…

You make a good point

But the rule is the rule. Obviously I would’ve preferred the goal stood, but I’m just happy that we didn’t need the third goal in the end.

not necessarily

I would not pay a lot of money for a 32 year old that will go off for a month or so in the middle of the season

I know his value

is still going down as he is getting older, but a small accomplishment can only make a positive “blip” in his favour
