Villa reappears after eight months, and scores

David Villa returns to football. In the 74th minute of Barça's league debut he came on, for the first time in eight months since breaking his leg in the Club World Cup. In spite of the score already standing at 4-1 the player took the biggest ovation of the night. Having been unable to play in Euro 2012 the striker has worked tirelessly to return in shape and to face his latest challenge: recover his starting place for Barcelona and the confidence of Vicente del Bosque for Spain. And he returned in the best way possible. Scoring to make it 5-1, a goal which he dedicated to his wife and daughters: "Impossible without you" read his t-shirt, under a photo of the ladies in his life. "I'm very happy. I couldn't ask for more on my return. I'm grateful to Tito for the confidence he showed letting me play. My teammates have supported me a lot. This is just the first step. I have to get a lot better still, but I want to help the team as much as I can", said Villa to Barça TV at the end of the game. "I thought about all my family, and how much they've helped me. There have been a lot of people at my side. Without them I wouldn't be here now. I was touched by the ovation of the Nou Camp. Hopefully I can return their love in goals", he said.
