The major talking from last night’s match from a Barcelona perspective is not that the team won, nor does it concern any aspect of the collective’s performance. Instead, all the focus is on Victor Valdés and his error which cost Barcelona a goal and therefore allowed Real Madrid a way back into a tie that appeared all but over. At 3-1, Real Madrid would have needed to beat the Blaugrana by two goals and (likely) keep a clean sheet to secure the away goals win, but at 3-2, Los Blancos only need to win by a solitary goal to win on away goals – provided they do not concede two or more goals.
With the second leg taking place at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid will fancy their chances, even if they are yet to win a Clasico at home under Jose Mourinho. However, it’s all well and good saying that Victor Valdés’ error could cost us the Spanish Supercopa, but the question is: do you think it will? Valdés did make a couple of huge mistakes last season that contributed to our downfall, but no matter how idiotic he looked yesterday, we can always take solace in the fact it was "only" the Supercopa.
