Essien has moved to Real on a season-long loan, adding more depth to their already loaded squad. From what I have seen he is somewhat like Alex Song, albeit with less of an eye for that final pass. (if that comparison is far off please tell me!) I think he adds more strength and another attacking option as he can run around midfield the whole 90 minutes like Khedira but has more attacking abilities than either Alonso or Khedira. Alonso and Khedira both scored a few goals during the last year though so it is not like they don't add anything to the offense. He is also better than Lass Diarra, who is probably the worst player in Madrid's squad...

Does anybody think he is a good addition? Barca fans will remember his goal in the 2nd leg of the semi-finals...
