Okay, I know this is a far-fetched dream (or is it?), but I would really like to see Pep manage Argentina at the next world cup. Now before you go all gung-ho on me about Spain, the only reason for my wishful thinking is the fact that it would help Argentina win the world cup, and more importantly, put the debate for the 'greatest football player' ever to rest; that accolade going to the one and only Lionel Messi. Many already consider him to be the best ever, but there are still enough doubters always citing the same World Cup as the reason to support to Pele and Maradona over Messi. Lionel Messi is the best, there is no denying that. No one has performed more consistently at such a level. He outperforms himself each year not only in La Liga, but also in Europe against some of the best teams in the world, and some of the most tactically and physically strong defenders ever. Time and time again he makes them look like ghosts, and yet, people do not regard his exploits as worthy of being considered the greatest ever. I respect other people's opinions but it's time to stop claiming just that 1 argument against him. If you do not consider him to be the best ever for other reasons I am okay with it. But to continuously argue based on a tournament which happens once every 4 years, and in which he has taken part (being the centre piece and not a bit-part developing player) only once is not correct.
So, I think it's time to move on from this argument, and better yet, put Pep at the helm of Argentina to cement Messi's status once and for all.
