The players were back on the Club’s training grounds at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Tuesday morning - following a day off on Monday - to prepare for the last two games of the competitive season. The first match is on Wednesday evening when Barça takes on Espanyol in the final of the Copa Catalunya.

Alvarez’s heart problem was detected by Espanyol’s medical team before the start of the 2012-13 campaign. However, it was not thought serious enough to prevent him making 18 La Liga appearances and he was able to train and compete without problems. He is now expected to be out of action for a further four or five months, when he will convalesce at home, ruling him out of this summer’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
