The goals for this season are as high as they come about every year, while the fruit or Seville orange if you would like of the transition period of Pep’s departure would be truly tested this year. The Management and the fans both have the utmost trust in Tito, and have no concerns but for his health, concern in the sense, of his well being and not how it would affect FCB. As true to the values of the club, human life is of more importance than profiting from the clubs growth. We are more mature to understand that there is more to Barca than football. Afterall our motto is "Més que un club". But then we let go of Abidal while we lack quality defenders. What would that translate into? A lot could be read between the lines. Valdes‘s situation, and now Xavis backup? Defense problem not yet fixed? Something sure is out of order, and I presume Rossell the MBA grad that he is, with all his marketing background is thinking more how to retain his presidency. But the way things are moving it doesn’t seem likely.
We as fans would want politics not to hinder with the game itself but it does have an impact. Heck, now a day’s even a press statement can have an influence on the game. This is why management decisions shouldn’t be haphazard. Being a fan of the club should be the most integral part of being associated with it managerially. That’s when you put your blood to it. Making money, branding it, is good, but bringing a revolution to the game is even better.
For all that I have watched Barca, it is still an example, a benchmark. We do not need to be Champions every year when we are the standard. But given the way things are moving I wouldn’t be shocked if we let go of that position.
The club and specially its board need to strictly scrutinize decisions as they all tend to have an impact on the image and reputation of the club.
It is not that all has gone wrong in this management, they have done some wonderful things, yet the strangeness in reactions to recent events puts to question how we can envision FCB in future.
We would want to maintain to be, the standard, the benchmark. We would want to be BARCA.
