It could not be more clear. FC Barcelona must defeat Real Madrid at all costs in the Copa del Rey final on Wednesday. It doesn't matter how, by how much, who scores, all that matters is that Barcelona come out on top. Losing to them is not an option.
For winning the Copa del Rey and beating our arch rivals a third consecutive time is some form of salvaging an underwhelming season, no? Our players need to forget Atletico Madrid last week, they need to forget Granada, they need to rally and bring their A-game for the Blancos. Defending can go to shit. Gerard Pique is out, so that puts our defense in an even worse position than it would have been if the Spaniard had been fit. We need to attack, we need to be creative,we need to be less predictable, we need to exploit the spaces Real will inevitably leave open, we need to score goals. We need to use the philosophy ''They score 3, we score 4''.
Beat Real Madrid, and we restore some pride to the club, we send out a message that we have gone nowhere, we win a title to save the season a bit, and perhaps even more importantly than all that, we may end up dealing a mental blow to Madrid, which would see them drop two points or three in La Liga.
Lose, and it's all over. We will come out of 2013-14 empty-handed, it'll be a third consecutive loss which will further ridicule the club, and we will most certainly give Real Madrid a ruthless, cutting edge, which may even see them power on to the Liga title, and let's not forget their hunt for La Decima either. We definitely can't afford to be giving them a confidence boost right now.
So, that is the task. It could not be less complex or simpler. Barcelona need to get the ball past Iker Casillas more times than Real Madrid get the ball past Jose Manuel Pinto.
One thing's for certain though, it's going to be a great cup final, one with goals in it for sure. May the best team win! Visca el Barca!
The lineup I hope to see: ( 4-3-3 ) Pinto, Montoya, Bartra, Mascherano, Alba, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi and Neymar.
It's obvious Martino will play Alves though, and it's even more obvious he'll either try Neymar on the right again, or Messi on the right and Cesc as false 9...his lineup can win or lose this game...
