FanPost

Hold up. Wait a minute. Let me put some Lucho in it.

Good. Now that you read the title this fanpost isn't going to be a mere witticism.

Instead, I want to talk about some of the comparisons I have been hearing about Lucho's team and Guardiola's. Why is no one mentioning the fact that last year was equally just as good of a start? Yes I trust Lucho.... That is not why I am posting this. I must say here that I really love how he is implementing his style (the Barca style) back to the Blaugrana. The high pressure, tight possesion game, and Messi at the focal point of the attack is nothing new, but it seems to be slightly revamped under the new manger. But how are we even making the Guardiola Lucho comparison only 5 games into the season? Do we all remember the start of last year?

I do. This is not the first time we have started strong. Not only did we start out on the winning foot beating Athletico in the Supercopa last year, but we went on to be 13-0-1 until we lost to Bilbao 1-0. So my point here is that if we are going to compare teams then we can't be solely focused on the results themselves. Like many others have shrewdly pointed out, the difference lies not necessarily in the results, but in how we are getting them. The side seems rejuvenated under Lucho (yesterday was an exception in my book) because we are pressing high, playing the ball to feet, and looking to create with an almost entirely different team than the one from Guardiolas era (minus Messi and Iniesta who are the only clear starters left from that team). So before we make comparisons wait and see if the style continues to improve.
