The Weekly Recap: Week 46

First things first, we are on fire! The last couple of days saw the traffic of Barca Blaugranes break the record for 4 days in a row! A big thank you to all our readers and the people who confused our site with a Cristiano Ronaldo forum ;)

Once again we are asking you to join Barca Blaugranes and help us become the best unofficial Barca site on the net. Becoming a member is fairly easy once you have figured out how. You would have to sign up with SBNation (our parent company/blog) first and subsequently join Barca Blaugranes.

And aside from welcoming our new members we can also announce a new writer amongst our ranks, Arron Duckling. His addition coincided with the, more or less, confirmed transfer of PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Afellay to FC Barcelona.

Speaking of additions and records, Barca Bla Bla has not one but two entries for this week. Personally, I thought we were done with Satan (or is it Zlatan?!?) Ibrahimovic and his loudmouth-agent Mino Raiola, but it appears that the pair can’t let go. To mark the new lows and lack of class of Mr. Raiola we decided to champion him the Moron of the Week.

The other newsworthy entry of BBB has been the outlandish rumor of Lionel Messi’s imminent £80.000.000 transfer to Manchester United.

As Blaugranes member angeldofdeath so adequately remarked "First of all, there needs to be another zero at the end of that figure (800 mil) and second of all, they ain’t selling… There’s gonna be a coup at the boardroom before that ever happens…"

Lionel Messi must have not noticed the hype surrounding his person as he was busy leading Argentina to a 1-0 victory against their eternal rivals Brazil. Hopefully, the duel Lionel Messi Vs. Dani Alves is only restricted to international games. The Brazilian is apparently leaving Catalunya for the greener shores of Chelsea FC or Manchester City after failing to agree to a new contract.

But while the contract situation of the Human Duracell battery is still uncertain, the Spanish clubs have finally concluded months of negotiations regarding the future distribution of TV revenues.

One of the clubs that should benefit from an increased revenue stream is UD Almeria. Judging by last night’s performance Almeria are much in need of everything. FC Barcelona came, saw and annihilated the Andalusian outfit 8-0 and effectively terminated Juanma Lillo’s managerial post with the club.

But Pep and his men cannot afford to dwell in the past as they are set to travel to Athen to face Greece champions Panathinaikos in the Champions League. Finishing second in Group D could lead to encounters with the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea FC or Manchester United; therefore it is imperative that the Blaugrana win in Greece.

Barca must win and keep the good run of form going before the big showdown, the Clasico. It will be the clash of two of the world’s finest footballers, Lionel Messi Vs. Cristiano Ronaldo. However, one of our members, Taimoor Akter Nasir, convincingly argued that Messi is simply superior to the "random Portuguese".

Again we encourage you to take advantage of the FanPost and FanShot sections and actively participate as Taimoore and Bosko did. The latter wrote a very interesting La Liga review which you should check out.

That’s it Blaugranes,

Sebastian
