The United States Sports Academy has recognized Barcelona striker David Villa as the best male sportsman of 2010, ahead of countryman Rafael Nadal, who won three of the four tennis Grand Slams during the calendar year.
David Villa enjoyed a great year, first at Valencia and then at Barcelona, a club which he helped reach new heights of footballing perfection.
More importantly, he was instrumental in Spain's World Cup success, scoring five goals (including absolutely decisive goals against Portugal and Paraguay) and being the tournament's top scorer.
The 29-year-old Spanish striker has proved again that he was at Saragoza and Valencia for too long; he's a world-class striker and deserves to play for a team like this current Barcelona side.
He absolutely deserved this prestigious award and let's now hope he keeps up the level he has been showing in his time at Barcelona and becomes a Barcelona legend!
