Defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2015. The deal also includes a clause that can automatically extend the contract based on the number of games the midfielder will play in his final season. The buyout clause has also risen; from 80 to 150 million Euros.
After signing the contract Busquets said: "I'm happy. It's the best way to start the year - great news for everyone. I am very young, I'm 22 years old, and hopefully will have a career full of successes.''
Busquets has played in 40 games this season, the majority as a holding midfielder. He has one goal and three assists on the year.
He made his debut in the 2008-09 season, when Guardiola gave him the opportunity. He has established himself as a key member of the Barcelona team and has kept his job despite the summer arrival of Argentine star Javier Mascherano.
