Could Josep Guardiola of F.C. Barcelona Be Tempted By 20 Million Euro Offer From Qatar?

Will Guardiola give a thumbs-up to Qatar?
Will Guardiola give a thumbs-up to Qatar?

As you may be aware, Qatar sacked their manager Bruno Metsu this week for failing to pass the quarter-final stage at the Asian Cup. Now, some reports are suggesting that current F.C. Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola is the number one target for the Qatari Football chiefs. Allegedly, they are willing to pay him 20 million Euro per year for his services!

This is probably a fictious story, but looking back at Guardiola's history with Qatar, it may not be so ridiculous.

He played for Al-Ahli in Qatar for 2 years and during that time is supposed to have built up a good relationship with many of the Qatari officilas. Pep was also involved in the 2022 World Cup bid for Qatar and because they secured the hosting rights, it has been said that Skeikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmad al-Thani is looking for a way to repay the favour.

The sheikh is apparently a big fan of Barca's philosophy (who isn't), and is rumoured to want Guardiola to install that same philosophy with the Qatar national side in time for the 2022 World Cup. and for 20 million Euro per year, he may see it as a challenge worth taking.

Although, I think that his time at Barca is far from over. As Manuel has mentioned, yesterday saw the Blaugrana shatter the 50 year-old record set by the legendary Real side of Puskas, Di Stefano and Gento for consecutive La Liga wins with 16.

To be honest, I can't see why you would want to leave that behind.
