Atletico brushed aside by Malaga | ESPNSTAR

Quique Sanchez Flores' side are attempting to salvage Europa League football from the embers of a hugely disappointing season but those ambitions were dented by Malaga's fourth successive La Liga victory. The Andalucians' comfortable win was brought about by Jose Salomon Rondon and Julio Baptista's headers in the first half before Enzo Maresca's late third added the gloss.

Bilbao beat Levante | EITB

Athletic Bilbao survived a late comeback from Levante to secure a 3-2 home win that kept them in pole position for the first of the three Europa League places, with 54 points in fifth spot. Gaizka Toquero, David Lopez (penalty) and Fernando Llorente put the Basque side 3-0 up early in the second half before the visitors netted twice in the last 12 minutes.

Almeria relegated | Yahoo

Almeria were relegated after losing 2-0 at fellow strugglers Getafe on Saturday, their seventh consecutive defeat ending a four-year stint in La Liga. The south-coast club stayed bottom with 26 points and were 13 from safety with three games left after goals early in each half from Adrian Colunga and Pedro Rios at the Coliseum.

Hercules lose | ESPNSTAR

All five goals came in a frantic first 45 minutes of a hugely entertaining match, with Hercules' Paraguay forward Nelson Haedo Valdez sent off after an hour for an alleged elbow on Domingo Cisma. Giovani had headed Racing in front after 13 minutes and later restored his side's lead moments after Sendoa Agirre's leveller with half-time approaching. But there was still time for two more goals before the break as Tiago Gomes equalised with a deflected strike to make it 2-2 and Henrique headed home in first-half stoppage time after Juan Calatayud had come rushing off his line.

Depor draw | ESPNSTAR

A stoppage-time penalty from David Barral earned Sporting Gijon a point on Saturday and left Deportivo La Coruna still battling for La Liga survival. Adrian twice put the struggling visitors ahead in the first half, but Ayoze Garcia equalised from the penalty spot in the 36th minute and then Barral's last-gasp spot-kick ensured the spoils were shared.
