A week after work commenced for Barça 2011/12, the first team has another match to contend with. Munich is the venue, where their semi final opponent in the Audi Cup is Brazilian side Internacional, who are not having the best of times after coach Paulo Roberto Falcão was sacked after three consecutive defeats that have seen them fall to sixth in the Brazilian championship.

The Chilean striker has been handed his number 9 shirt and was presented on Monday as a new member of the first team. "Guardiola phoned me and put his trust in me" said Alexis, explaining one of the reasons that he chose to come to Barcelona.

The news means that the Brazil international no longer occupies a place in the squad as one of three non-EU players. Marcelo joined Real Madrid from Fluminense in January 2007 and has obtained dual nationality after spending four-and-a-half years in Spain.

Villarreal's Santiago Cazorla set to join Malaga - report | Goal
Reports in Spain last week claimed Villarreal had turned down Malaga's original offer for Cazorla, who is also being followed by Arsenal, as the proposal was somewhat shy of their €30m valuation. However, fresh stories suggest Malaga are confident that a transfer will soon be completed and that the player will join the club for €19m, plus €2m in bonuses.
