Henry: Arsenal can survive without Cesc | Guardian

Arsenal's record goalscorer makes a playing return to his former club this weekend with the New York Red Bulls for the Emirates Cup, in which they face Arsène Wenger's side on Sunday. Henry was asked if there can be a fixation with big-name players such as Fábregas, as there had been previously with himself and Patrick Vieira when they departed Arsenal. Henry said: "Whichever team you play in, it is a team effort. In our time, we had a great team. It was not down to one, two, three, four, five, six or seven players. It is a team effort – that's it."

Mourinho ban reduced | ESPN

UEFA has confirmed it has modified the five-match European ban imposed on Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho so the fourth match, as well as the fifth, is now suspended. Mourinho was handed the initial punishment in May in relation to the ill-tempered Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona at the Bernabeu, when the Portuguese was sent to the stands during the game and made what UEFA termed ''an inappropriate statement'' in the post-match press conference.

The ex-Barcelona forward stole the show in a breathtaking encounter against Santos. Despite being 3-0 down at one stage in the game, Flamengo managed to emerge 5-4 victors from the match, with Ronaldhinho netting a hat-trick in the process.

Dream friendly against Betis | BBC

A non-league football team has been given a "once in a lifetime" chance to play Spanish side Real Betis after Portsmouth FC were delayed in the US. Conference South side Havant and Waterlooville will take on the La Liga team at home at Westleigh Park for the pre-season friendly at 18:30 BST.

Real poised to sign Adebayor | Talksport

Jose Mourinho was originally thought to have decided against signing the 27-year-old permanently, with Neymar believed to be his number one target. However, Santos are unwilling to sell the Brazlian sensation this summer and, according to Marca, Mourinho is now hoping to tie up a deal for Adebayor.
