The Spanish professional footballers' union (AFE) has announced they will go on strike and delay the start of the new La Liga season in a row over a wage guarantee fund. AFE said on Thursday that Spanish first and second division fixtures will be affected for the first two weekends of the 2011-12 league season.

The Frenchman told the club's official website a decision on where the midfielder will be playing next season - either at the Emirates or Camp Nou in Barcelona - could be made before the start of the Premier League season, after media reports suggested a deal could be reached before the start of Arsenal's game against Newcastle at the weekend.
