Barcelona B: Twiddling My Thumbs (Seriously)

Admit it, you'll never go wrong with a hot chick in a Barca shirt...
Admit it, you'll never go wrong with a hot chick in a Barca shirt...

Summer stinks, doesn't it? Not only has it been unseasonably hot this year, but we have been subjected to an inane number of friendlies that only serves to line the pockets of clubs involved. Plus all this transfer speculation that almost always comes up to nothing. Most Barca fans will agree that they can't wait for the real games to begin, when the actual stars get to play.

For the B team, it's actually worse. Unless you happen to live in Barcelona (which I do not), the news coming out the Mini Estadi is quite scarce. Add that with the fact that I've been out of commission for a while, and it's twiddling thumbs time. Not to worry though, as the theme goes this summer, it's been very slow.

Cristian Lobato signs with Barcelona B

No excuses, I flat out missed this last week. The left winger signed at the end of June from L'Hospitalet for two years. The 22-year old made 33 appearances last year for the Segunda B side and scored 1 goal. After the departure of Nolito, Benja and Edu Oriol, this was a much-needed signing. Look for Barca B to make another signing, this time most likely a centre forward, especially with all the uncertainty surrounding Jonathan Soriano. Speaking of...

Jonathan Soriano out 6-8 weeks

See, this is why I hate friendlies. And yes, the Audi Cup is a friendly. Ok, an exhibition, if you will. Following a clash with a Bayern Munich defender, it's been determined that Soriano injured his right knee and will be out for about two months. The good news is, this kills all transfer rumors regarding him moving to another club. The bad news is, this basically kills his chances with the senior team. Such rotten luck.

Jonathan Dos Santos plays... at RB?

Hmm, that cover that we're looking for at right back, who knew it was right under our noses all along? Jonathan Dos Santos was basically in dire straits when it came to his future at the club. There was no place for the center midfielder at the senior side (especially now that Thiago Alcanatara is there). He contemplated his future somewhere else, as he should. One stroke of genius from Pep later, voila!!! Ok, not exactly a stroke of genius, if JDS' play against Manchester United is anything to go by. In the end though, he's only playing there because Martin Montoya is injured. He's still gone by the end of this season, at the most.

And finally, from the "this could be a load of junk" files

Keirrison

Remember him? The biggest waste of €14 million ever? Well, according to Sport (other words, take it with a grain of salt), Keirrison will train with Barcelona B to start this season. Keirrison had recently been "let go" by Brazilian giants Santos FC. I mentioned that Barcelona B needed a striker/center forward, he might be it. I mean, he should be good enough to score goals with the B team right? Right?
