Messi, a new record: 35 league goals, a new Barça record | FC Barcelona
Once again, Messi proved to be decisive. He opened the scoring against Mallorca on Saturday night and set Barça on the road to victory. The goal, his 35th in the league this season, established a new Club scoring record for league goals in a season. Since the 2009/10 season he had shared the previous record of 34 along with former Brazilian striker Ronaldo.

Malaga boosted their chances of securing a place in next season's Champions League when they came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Espanyol and draw level on points with third-placed Valencia. The Qatar-owned club fell behind in the 24th minute to a Philippe Coutinho strike before former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Ruud van Nistelrooy netted a 75th-minute equaliser moments after coming off the bench.

Elsewhere, struggling Real Zaragoza boosted their survival hopes with a victory over Atletico Madrid, Sporting Gijon grabbed a dramatically late point at Athletic Bilbao, and Racing Santander also earned a draw against Real Betis. Sevilla are reportedly planning a summer swoop for Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz. The Turkey international has been in sensational goalscoring form this season and has already admitted that he wants to move on at the end of the current campaign amidst rumours linking him with Premier League outfit Arsenal. However, according to Turkiye Gazetesi, Sevilla have now entered the race for Burak.
