And then it was four. The final whistle has gone at the Bernabeu, and Real Madrid have been held to a 0-0 draw by Unai Emery’s Valencia. The week started out with Emery under increasing pressure from both the media and the fans, but he has turned it around completely by progressing to the semi-final of the Europa League and now snatching a point at the Bernabeu. Of course, this also means that the gap at the top is down to just four points. Remuntada? You better believe it.
Real Madrid on reflection were probably the better side, edging the possession stats and creating far more chances, but unfortunately for them, they were up against a super-human performance by Vicente Guaita. In many ways it was a similar performance to that of Javi Varas at the Camp Nou, although equally Valencia too could have won this game if their finishing was a little more accurate. Considering that Real now have to regroup in time for an away trip to the Vicente Calderon and the Madrid derby against Atletico in just three days time, the title race looks far from over.
Who's crazy now? :P
