Not only were the fixtures for the 2012/13 La Liga released today, but also for the Segunda division as well, so we now know the full league schedule for both the senior team and the B team. Eusebio’s boys kick-off their campaign with a tough home match against Almeria, who finished a single position above Barca B last season, and for their first away game they travel to the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium to take on Castilla in a mini El Clasico. Other standout fixtures include Jornada 20 which involves a trip to face recently relegated Villarreal (with the return match taking place in the penultimate week of the season), and the final match day which pits our boys up against Xerez.
Even with a fixture list it is hard to predict how well the B team will do, especially as there is uncertainty surrounding the futures of so many of their players. Will Jonathan Dos Santos be promoted? Could he leave the club entirely? What about the two Marc’s – Muniesa and Bartra? However, with Gerard Deulofeu improving by the week and Jean-Marie Dongou getting more and more match experience they should definitely steer well clear of a relegation battle, ideally beating Castilla along the way!
