Luis Milla, the coach who will try to lead Spain to further football glory, has announced the squad for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Three Barcelona players made the cut as Jordi Alba, Martin Montoya and Cristian Tello will be traveling to the United Kingdom. Thiago was dropped from the team because of injury problems.

Another award for Leo Messi. This time he has been awarded an ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) for Best International Athlete. The other sportspeople shortlisted for the prestigious honour presented by TV channel ESPN were fellow footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, tennis’ Novak Djokovic and golfer Yani Tseng.

He went on to make more than 500 appearances for the Spanish giants, winning five La Liga titles and the Champions League three times.

A statement on Al-Rayyan's website said: "Nilmar of the club Villarreal is coming to Doha to completed negotiations... He will be a great addition to the attack." Nilmar was always likely to leave El Madrigal this summer following the club's relegation from the top flight in Spain at the end of a season in which injury restricted him to just 13 league starts.
