Olympics 2012: Spain vs Japan: Live Game Thread

After emerging victorious at both the European Championships and at the Under-19 European Championships, Spain can complete a unique treble in international football; that is if they claim gold in the London Olympics. With successful under-21 coach Luis Milla in charge, Spain are amongst the favourites, but they will face tough competition for that gold medal in the form of Brazil. Coached by Mano Menenzes (who also leads the senior side), the South Americans see this as a warm-up for their home World Cup.

Spain’s opening fixture is against Japan, and although Cristian Tello has to make do with a place on the bench, both Martin Montoya and Jordi Alba start for the Spanish. Full line-ups are below:

Spain XI(4-2-3-1): David De Gea; Martin Montoya, Alvaro Dominguez, Inigo Martinez, Jordi Alba; Javi Martinez Koke, Isco, Juan Mata, Rodrigo; Adrian

Japan XI(4-2-3-1): Shuichi Gonda; Yuhei Tokunaga, Maya Yoshida, Daisuke Suzuki, Hiroki Sakai; Hotaru Yamaguchi, Takahiro Ogihara, Yuki Otsu, Keigo Higashi, Hiroshi Kiyotake; Kensuke Nagai
