Champions League: Group Stage Draw: Live Thread

New, comments

With the Champions League Play-off Round completed in the previous week we now have 32 teams that will compete for Champions League glory in the 2012-13 season. The draw ceremony will begin at 5:45pm CET and will also include the naming of the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2012. The three finalists are Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo and a jury of 53 sports journalists will name the winner. Last season Messi won the inaugural edition of the award.

Back to the draw. As has been the case in the past the teams will divided into eight groups of four. One team from each of the pots will make a group, named from A to H. Teams from the same country cannot be drawn in the same group. Therefore, with Valencia and Malaga in Pots 2 and 4, Barcelona have a list of 22 potential opponents.

There is potential that we might see some extremely good match-ups very early in the Champions League with Manchester City and Valencia in Pot 2, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in Pot 3 and Borussia Dortmund in Pot 4.

Enjoy the draw with us. Pots are after the jump.
