FC Barcelona News: 4 January 2013; Three Players Given Medical Clearance, Valdes Expected to Play Against Espanyol

Cesc, Adriano and Song declared fit after first full session of 2013 | FC Barcelona
Barça went back to training on Wednesday, but those that were playing with the Catalan national team last night did so separately from the others. On Thursday they were all back together at the Ciutat Esportiva for the first time in 2013. Tito Vilanova was able to take charge of the proceedings, and when it was over, all of Cesc, Adriano and Song were declared fully fit.

He also spoke about his personal situation after missing the Catalonia game with plantar fasciitis. "I could feel some pain after the game with Valladolid and it’s come back, but it’s no trouble and isn’t any limitation for me", he said, insisting that there is no reason to doubt his availability for Sunday’s derby with Espanyol at 19.00.

After this morning’s training session, Barça returned to the training grounds this evening for their second scheduled practice of the day. Éric Abidal and Isaac Cuenca, both of whom trained with the team this morning, worked out in the gym. The rest of the players took to Field 2 to complete the session (this morning’s session was held on Field 1).

Local media reported that fullback Fabio Coentrao had returned late from the Christmas and New Year break and coach Jose Mourinho had demanded the stiffest possible punishment for his Portuguese compatriot. A club spokesman declined to confirm the reports.

Feghouli signs Valencia extension until 2016 -
Valencia have announced on their official website that they have successfully concluded contract negotiations with Algeria international Sofiane Feghouli, resulting in a new deal that will keep the winger at the club until June 2016. The 23-year-old's previous agreement ran until the summer of 2014, but he has now signed on for two additional seasons.
