31 out of 33. Barça stay top of the league after defeating a valiant Celta side at Balaídos. Even without players of the calibre of Piqué, Xavi, Iniesta and Neymar, Barça were fantastic right from the start, with Alexis finding the target once again to put his side into the lead. An own goal and another from Cesc eventually made it 3-0, which was a severe blow for Celta manager Luis Enrique and other familiar faces in Fontàs, Rafinha and Nolito, who had taken a daring approach to the game but were ultimately thwarted by a technically superior side.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is shocked that his side’s coach Diego Simeone has not been included on Fifa’s shortlist for their Coach of the Year award. Simeone led the Spanish side to Copa del Rey victory last season for the first time since 1996, after Joao Miranda’s extra-time winner helped them beat city rivals Real Madrid 2-1 in the final. "He [Simeone] should have been nominated, but unfortunately for us we’re not the kind of club who makes the list," Cerezo is quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper AS.

Thibaut Courtois has admitted that it will be entirely up to Chelsea whether he returns to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. The goalkeeper is enjoying his third consecutive season out on loan at Atletico Madrid and has been a key player during his time in Spain. He would have had to compete with Petr Cech for regular football if he had gone back to the Blues this summer and admits it had been his preference to remain with Atletico to boost his chances of being Belgium's No.1 at the World Cup.

Since 1982, Barça have a wonderful home record against Espanyol, who have only won once at the Camp Nou in all that time. But that is not to say there haven’t been some eventful derby evenings. From huge Barça wins to last-gasp winners and major disappointments, there have been many matches to remember.

The main supporters group of Spanish La Liga club, Elche, have publicly admitted they were responsible for racist abuse directed at Granada defender Allan-Romeo Nyom at the Estadio Martinez Valero on Saturday. Fans group 'Agrupacion de Penas del Elche CF' issued a statement admitting that the abuse had taken place, but fell short of issuing an official apology to Nyom.

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa believes he has made the right decision to commit his international future to Spain because it is the country that has given him "everything." On Tuesday, the 25-year-old confirmed he will be available for selection for his adopted homeland ahead of next year's World Cup in the country of his birth, Brazil.
