FC Barcelona News: 8 October 2013; El Clasico Kick-Off Time Confirmed, Victor Valdes Reiterates Desire to Leave

The time and date of the clásico have been revealed. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the Camp Nou on Saturday October 26 at 18.00. It will be the tenth league game of a league season in which Barça have won all eight games played so far to have the maximum 24 points.

Tata Martino: "Barça are bigger than one could imagine" | FC Barcelona
Tata Martino was the guest of honour in the third discussion of the Foundation Forum, the first one held this season. The FC Barcelona manager shared the stage with former Barça player and manager Carles Rexach in a discussion titled "The Barça Bench." Martino and Rexach entertained the audience gathered in the Sala Auditorio 1899, among whom was President Sandro Rosell.

The team have averaged nearly four goals a game (3.7) in that winning streak, whilst averaging less than a goal a game conceded (0.8), notching up 71 goals and letting in just 16. The next big objective on the horizon is to make that 20 straight wins with the game against Real Madrid on October 26th.

Twelve players on international duty | FC Barcelona
For the next few days, FC Barcelona will be without twelve members of the squad, who are all away representing their different countries. Vicente del Bosque is taking seven Barça players with him for the last two World Cup qualifying matches: Víctor Valdés, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández, Cesc Fàbregas and Pedro Rodríguez.

Puyol targeting Week 9 return | Football Espana
Carles Puyol is reportedly targeting a return to action for Barcelona in the first fixture back after the international break. Having trained with his teammates in recent days and taken part in training ground matches, the defender is seen as close to completing his recovery. Reports today are that Puyol is now entering a key week for his conditioning, with a return against Osasuna in Week 9 seen as identified.

Tata Martino has arrived in his place, but Barcelona’s President says that Vilanova will not stay completely out of the picture in the future. "His illness has been the worst thing that has happened since I arrived at the club," considered Rosell on El Larguero this week. "He is lively and strong. If he recovers, he will certainly return to Barca. I do not know in what capacity, but he will return.

"We have studied the accounts and the budget and we have detected things which are not explained by the president," Mendoza said. "Things which worry us for the future. The club's debt is 541 million euros, including that owed in the short term and long term.

Javi Fuego set for surgery | Football Espana
Valencia midfielder Javi Fuego will undergo surgery on a cyst on his groin, but is expected back in training by next Monday. The summer arrival from Rayo Vallecano has been a regular under Miroslav Djukic, but will now sit out the first week of the international break. His club report that he will undergo surgery to remove a sebaceous cyst on the groin muscle in his right leg.
