The Diada del Soci Solidari (Club Member Solidarity Day) was a complete success as 47,280 filled the Camp Nou, and the team put in a reaffirming performance. Barça came into the match with a 1-4 advantage from the first leg in Cartagena, and Gerardo Martino’s competitive line-up earned passage to the next round thanks to the final 3-0 scoreline.

Barça comfortably defeated Cartagena in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. Despite the positive result from the first leg of the tie, Martino considers that his men approached tonight’s match with the right mentality: "We didn’t play perfectly but our mentality was correct. The most positive thing is that we were serious in our approach to the game. We respected our rival and the fans that came to watch the match."

"Scoring goals always gives you confidence," said Pedro Rodríguez after the match. The forward took advantage of Montoya’s cross and sent the ball to the back of the net. He added: "I’m happy with the goals I’m scoring for the team and also for getting these opportunities. We closed out the tie and that’s important. We knew that it was going to be difficult."

Getafe will face FC Barcelona in the next round of the Copa del Rey | FC Barcelona
The first match of the tie will be at the Camp Nou on Wednesday, January 8. The second leg, at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, will be played the following week. The quarter-finals, the winner will face either Levante or Valladolid or Rayo Vallecano.
