UEFA Champions League: 5 March 2013: Live Open Thread

A live open thread for tonight's UEFA Champions League Round of Sixteen matches, including Real Madrid's away trip to face Manchester United

Jasper Juinen

Real Madrid travel to England tonight with their hopes of claiming La Decima hanging in the balance; after a relatively disappointing first-leg draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos need a high scoring draw or better yet, a win, to secure their place in the quarter-finals. However, they face tough opposition in the form of Sir Alex Ferguson's table-topping Manchester United. Despite the omission of England international Wayne Rooney, SAF has selected a strong XI, featuring Ryan Giggs who is making his 1000th senior appearance.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund welcome Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk following a 2-2 first-leg draw at the Donbass Arena. Will Jurgen Klopp's Bundesliga winning side be able to book their place in the quarter-finals or will Shakhtar reach the final eight for the second time in the last three seasons?

Line-Ups:

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Giggs, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck, Van Persie

Real Madrid XI: Lopez, Arbeloa, Varane, Ramos, Coentrao, Alonso, Khedira, Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo, Higuain

Borussia XI: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotić, Felipe Santana, Schmelzer; Gündoğan, Bender; Błaszczykowski, Götze, Reus; Lewandowski

Shakhtar XI: Pyatov, Kucher, Rat, Srna, Rakitskiy, Hubschman, Fernandinho, Mkhitaryan, Taison, Teixeira, Adriano
