FC Barcelona News: 9 March 2013; Xavi Back in Training, Jordi Masip To Backup Jose Manuel Pinto

With the all-important game against Milan attracting most of the attention, Barça face a league game at the Camp Nou against Deportivo on Saturday evening, one which as coach Jordi Roura has insisted is an important match to ensure they maintain their big lead at the top of the table and perhaps just as importantly, to get back to winning ways ahead of Tuesday, after unusually losing three of their last four games.

Xavi Hernández was back in training at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning, although he is still recovering from his hamstring injury. Barça B keeper Jordi Masip also took part in the session, with Víctor Valdés suspended and unable to play against Deportivo on Saturday evening.

Víctor Valdés’ suspension has opened the doors for José Manuel Pinto to play in the next few league games and of course, for one of the B team keepers to step up into the first team squad. With Oier suspended, the choice comes down to Jordi Masip or Miguel Bañuz and it was the former who joined in the first team training at the Ciutat Deportivo this morning.
