FC Barcelona News: 28 April 2013; Barça Draw at San Mamés, Real Madrid Win El Derbi Madrileño

A last gasp equalizer from Ander Herrera thwarted the team’s hope of wrapping up the league tonight and whatever happens in Madrid, the title will have to wait. Barça’s last ever game in San Mames will be remembered as a real epic battle, played in the rain at a typically high tempo and with plenty of goals and chances.

"Messi is well. He’s recovering as planned and he played a good match today," said Roura when asked about Leo Messi, who was subbed on in the 57th minute of the match. The Argentine scored one goal and provided an assist for Alexis. "We have to take this one game at a time. We’ll try to win the title. It’s very difficult to win away to Athletic, we had the match won and they showed us why they are hard to defeat."

Leo Messi was the outstanding player of the match in San Mamés (2-2). When he came on in the 58th minute, he turned the game around for Barça. In just eight minutes he created a clear goal scoring opportunity for Pedro and hit a beautiful equaliser from just inside the area. This was his 24th away goal of the season – a new record in the competition.

FC Barcelona could win La Liga next Sunday at the Camp Nou | FC Barcelona
Barça could be crowned champions on Sunday, May 5 ,at the Camp Nou but only if Real Madrid lose or draw on May 4. Los Blancos will host Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabéu and only a defeat or a tie would open the door to the title for Tito Vilanova’s men next weekend.

In addition to this year, FC Barcelona netted more than 100 goals in the 2011/12 season (114), the 2008/09 season (105) and the 1996/97 season (102). What’s particularly interesting about this season is the speed with which Barça have netted their goals. But 20 Minutos has claimed that the 25-year-old, whose contract in Andalusia runs out in June, has agreed to join the Premier League side for free next term.

Celta Vigo temporarily moved out of the Primera Division relegation zone after a solitary Augusto Fernandez goal helped them to a vital win away to Levante. The Argentinian headed home midway through the first half, making his side's domination count.

Tomer Hemed's early opener for Mallorca was overturned by goals from Paco Montanes and Helder Postiga, but the Balearic islanders looked to have nicked a point when Javier Arizmendi scored seven minutes from time. However, in a thrilling finale, Ruben Rochina fired Zaragoza back in front before Arizmendi had a second 'goal' ruled out for offside.
