After an age of negotiations, and a few days of waiting, Neymar has finally signed for FC Barcelona! Oh wait, that doesn't matter yet, what really matters at the moment is whether Barcelona can equal the points record set last season by Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid - and therefore whether Barcelona can defeat city rivals Espanyol in tonight's Catalan derby. With just two matches remaining in this season's La Liga, the Blaugrana are tantalisingly close to reaching that century mark for the first time in their long, and illustrious history - all in Tito Vilanova's first season in charge. Despite missing a few matches as he battled a tumour in New York, Tito Vilanova has masterminded Barcelona to arguably their best ever La Liga campaign - and unbelievably still receives criticism from some Cules. Sure, he's not perfect, but judging by our record in this season's La Liga, he's pretty damn close.
Standing between Barca and a place in the record books is Espanyol - and if they can't get the job done tonight, then there's also the small matter of a last day encounter with Malaga (in what should be Manuel Pellegrini's final match before departing for Manchester City). So, in other words, Barcelona still have work to do. Espanyol are a tough opponent, and almost always raise their game against the Blaugrana - and any side coached by Javier Aguirre is going to at least cause Barca some trouble. Make no mistake, this match is going to be physical; and can Barcelona cope? In the past couple of weeks, Barca have been lucky enough to secure victory - even when they haven't played very well - if they want to register their fourth successive win, they will almost certainly have to raise the intensity of their play. Can they do it? Will Barcelona beat Espanyol and move three points closer to that 100 point milestone, or will Espanyol finally get the better of the Blaugrana? Predict the score of tonight's clash by voting in our poll below, and commenting with your prediction. As always, best of luck!
