FC Barcelona News: 1 July 2013; Neymar Named Confederations Cup MVP as Brazil Humble Spain in Final

Eight FC Barcelona players lined up for their respective countries at the Maracaná Stadium for the final of the Confederations Cup this evening; two Brazilians - Neymar and Alves - and six for Spain - Piqué, Alba, Sergio, Xavi, Iniesta and Pedro. David Villa also got some playing time when he was subbed in for Fernando Torres in the second half.

Elche central defender Xabi Etxeita has signed for Athletic Bilbao, according to the Basque club’s official website. The 25-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the Basques and returns to the club where he started his career, having made 17 La Liga appearances for Los Leones between 2008 and 2010.

Issam El Adoua has opted to sign for Levante after previously being linked with a move to the Premier League. The Morocco international defender was reported to be a target for West Bromwich Albion and Fulham. He has, however, agreed to leave Victoria Guimares and pen a two-year deal with Levante.

Newly-promoted Primera Division side Almeria have named Francisco Rodriguez as their new head coach. Francisco, 34, has been in charge of Almeria's reserve side for the last two seasons in Segunda Division B and replaces Javi Gracia, who it was announced on Friday would be leaving the club after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract.
