FC Barcelona News: 19 July 2013; Training Sessions Continue for First Team, Neymar's Shirt Number Announced

Double training sessions again today | FC Barcelona
Under grey skies and with the temperature a little cooler than previously this week, the squad were back in training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper this morning after having Thursday afternoon free. Carles Puyol, Ibrahim Afellay and Isaac Cuenca continued with their specific recovery programmes, whilst the rest of the players worked oout.

Iniesta, Pique renewals progress | Football Espana
Barcelona’s contract renewal talks with Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique are reported today as progressing. The duo are understood to have entered into negotiations with the Blaugrana over extending their current deals that for both expire in June 2015.

Neymar to wear No.11 at Barcelona -
Neymar has been given the No.11 shirt to wear in his debut Barcelona season. The forward could potentially have taken the No.7 following David Villa's move to Atletico Madrid for €5 million but the Brazilian is set to line up for the Catalans in Thiago Alcantara's old number following the midfielder's €20m transfer to Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich.

As Barcelona prepared to face Arsenal in the last 16 of the 2011 Champions League, Pep Guardiola was asked for his opinion on opposition midfielder Jack Wilshere. "He is lucky," the Barca coach responded. "Because we have many players in the second team like him. He plays because there is no pressure at his club to win titles."

However, Bartomeu has moved to quell any talk of an imminent transfer for Fabregas by insisting they will not entertain any offers for the Spain international. Catalan newspaper Sport has learned that Barcelona are showing interest in Ghanaian midfielder Clifford Aboagye. The 18-year-old footballer was not among players tipped to shine at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, but he largely impressed in six matches for the Black Stars.

Real Madrid have announced that midfielder Xabi Alonso has returned to training as he continues his recovery from groin surgery.The Spain international, who has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer, joined his team-mates for a half-hour stretching session, before heading back into the gym to continue his personal recovery program.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move across the city for several months, on from indicating last autumn an unhappiness at a lack of first team football at the Vicente Calderon. Whilst Madrid had an offer turned down in January for his signature, Pulido’s lack of game-time under Diego Simeone last term has seen him move across to Los Blancos.
