Cristian Tello Ruled Out Of Joan Gamper Trophy

FC Barcelona winger Cristian Tello has been ruled out Friday's Joan Gamper Trophy match with Santos after picking up a muscle strain in last night's 2-2 friendly draw with Lechia Gdansk. Starting alongside Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi, Cristian Tello has been in good form this pre-season, helping himself to a goal against Valerenga at the weekend; but was forced off after just 22 minutes yesterday, clutching at the back of his leg.

Tests have revealed that Tello has strained the femoral biceps in his left leg, and as a result, will miss Barcelona's friendly with Santos this Friday. While the club have not specified a date for Tello to return, he is expected to play some part in Barcelona's tour of Asia next week.

In his absence last night, Barcelona turned to young B team winger, Joan Roman, who was signed last summer from Manchester City. Roman has been in impressive form this pre-season having scored goals for both the B team, and the senior squad, but is not expected to replace Cristian Tello again on Friday; instead it is widely believed that Barca's €57 million signing Neymar will start his first ever match for the Blaugrana, somewhat fittingly against his former club, Santos.

Get well soon Tello!
