Barça begin their Spanish Cup campaign tonight with a trip Huesca, who play in the third tier of the league – Segundo B. Although he admitted his team are clear favourites in the two legged tie, Luis Enrique made it clear on Tuesday that Huesca, who are challenging for promotion, are not to be taken too lightly.

With barely time to digest the last gasp victory in Mestalla against Valencia, Barça have now to prepare for their first appearance in this season’s Spanish Cup. On Wednesday the blaugranes travel to lower to take on lower division opposition in the form of Huesca in the north east of Spain. The game is the first leg of their last 32 tie and kick offs at 10PM CET.

Luis Enrique’s 16-man squad for Barça’s Cup opener tonight left the Stadium by coach at eleven o’clock this morning and are now on their way to Huesca, where they should arrive at about two o’clock. The players will rest up at the team hotel this afternoon ahead of the ten o’clock kick off.

First team player Thomas Vermaelen successfully underwent surgery this Wednesday on the semitendinosus muscle in his right hamstring. The operation was performed in Finland by Dr Sakari Orava and the recovery period is estimated at approximately four months.
