The Appeals Committee has accepted FC Barcelona’s appeal presented on Thursday to have the yellow card shown to Leo Messi against Valencia rescinded. The club originally appealed to the Competition Committee on Wednesday to no avail.

Barça have plenty of reasons to feel confident going into the city derby on Sunday. Since 2009/10, they have a record of eight wins and two draws in the fixture, with 21 goals for and just two against. According to Spanish media reports, authorities in Spain are moving to prosecute Aguirre and some 30 others on suspicion of fixing a La Liga game against Levante, when he managed Zaragoza in May 2011. JFA chairman Kuniya Daini said: "[Aguirre] himself says it's not a problem and there's nothing we can do but believe him."
