FC Barcelona News: 17 February 2014; 23 Players Travel to Manchester, 40th Anniversary of Historic El Clasico Win

First team en route to Manchester | FC Barcelona
The first team left the Ciutat Esportiva at 9.30 this morning to take a flight to Manchester. The plane left El Prat Airport at 10.30 AM CET and arrived in the English city at 11.50 AM GMT. The team will rest at their hotel and then at 7.00 PM GMT they’ll be training in the Etihad Stadium, the venue for Tuesday night’s game. Before, at 6.15 PM GMT, manager Tata Martino and defender Gerard Piqué will be speaking to the media.

Tata Martino’s men return to Champions League play on Tuesday when they travel to Manchester City for the first leg of the knock out round of the continental tournament (8:45 PM CET). Upon arrival back in Barcelona, the team will have just enough time to prepare for the away match against Real Sociedad (Saturday, 8:00 PM CET).

Spanish police are still searching for the individual who threw a tear gas canister onto the pitch during Saturday night’s La Liga game between Villarreal and Celta Vigo at El Madrigal. A can spewing gas was thrown from the stands with time almost up in the game, and play had to be stopped while players left the pitch and the ground was evacuated as the gas was causing distress among the 14,195 spectators present.
