Barcelona International Round-Up

A look into how the Barça players fared with their respective national teams.

Spain vs Italy

Players Featured: Victor Valdés, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fàbregas, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta and Pedro.

Seven Barcelona players were called up to the Spanish side for the game against Italy at the Vicente Calderón and all but one of them got minutes. Pedro, Andrés Iniesta, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fàbregas all started the game while Victor Valdés came at half time in the place of Iker Casillas. Xavi was the only one not to play as Vicente del Bosque said he was struggling with a cold. The game was decided by a Pedro goal in the 63rd minute which was assisted by Iniesta as Spain continued to show their credentials for the summer's World Cup.

Spain Under-21s vs Germany Under-21s

Player Featured: Sergi Roberto

Barcelona youngster Sergi Roberto started the Spain Under-21s match against the Germany Under-21s. The game was played in Palencia and Roberto played just the first half as Spain won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Real Madrid players Álvaro Morata and Isco.

Germany vs Chile

Player Featured: Alexis Sánchez

Alexis was the man pulling the strings as Chile were desperately unlucky to lose this game. Mario Götze's 16th minute goal was enough to win the game for Germany. The Germans were eventually booed of the pitch and captain Philipp Lahm acknowledged they were lucky to win. But Chile can be happy with their performance if not the result as they start to make a case for being dark horses of the World Cup.

Portugal vs Cameroon

Players Featured: Alex Song

Alex Song was on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline as Portugal overpowered Cameroon. Song was largely ineffectual as Cristiano Ronaldo guided his team to an impressive win. The Barça player also picked up a booking.

Romania vs Argentina

Players Featured: Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi

Both Mascherano and Messi started the game but neither could help break the 0-0 deadlock between the two sides. The two Barcelona players stayed on the field for the full 90 and worryingly Messi was seen being physically ill on the pitch. The reason was never released but it's not the first time it's happened and he should be okay for the trip to Vallodolid on Saturday.

South Africa vs Brazil

Players Featured: Dani Alves and Neymar

Neymar was the star of the game as Brazil overpowered the 2010 World Cup hosts. South Africa had previously beaten Spain 1-0 in their last game but were unable to stop the 2014 World Cup hosts from finding the net. Chelsea's Oscar opened the scoring in the tenth minute before a quick fire double from Neymar either side of half time. Neymar then completed his hat-trick in the 91st minute after Manchester City's Fernandinho had scored Brazil's fourth in the 79th minute. Dani Alves was substituted on in the 58th minute for Real Madrid's Marcelo.
