FC Barcelona’s youth system received another acknowledgement this Monday 14 April 2014 in Nyon, where the Juvenil A team clinched the first edition of the UEFA Youth League, the premier competition for this age group.

The Youth A team made history by winning the first ever edition of the UEFA Youth League by beating Benfica 3-0 in the final played in Nyon. The game produced plenty of images that the young players will surely cherish forever.

Josep María Bartomeu, who accompanied Barça’s Juvenil A team in the final of the UEFA Youth League, said that "Barça’s approach is to form players and we want to reach the highest heights." In addition, the FC Barcelona president went on to congratulate the team and the coaching staff for winning the title: "At Barça we take care of formation. We’re doing a magnificent job and I congratulate everyone that’s involved in this work."

First up is the Spanish Cup Final against Real Madrid in Valencia on Wednesday night 9.30 AM CET). Four days later it’s back to league action as fourth place Bilbao visit the Camp Nou (Sunday 9.00 AM CET) for a game Barça must win to keep their title hopes alive.

Puyol faced the press after training this morning, claiming: "this is a good time for me to speak. We have a final ahead of us – one of the best possible games- I want to assure the fans that we will be giving everything in the game and if we are all united then it will be easier. The only way forward is to stay united.

Aduriz bags brace in Bilbao victory |
Athletic Bilbao continued their march towards Champions League football next season with a dominant 3-0 home victory over Malaga. Aritz Aduriz scored at the start of each half as Ernesto Valverde's side made light work of the visitors, and Ander Herrera hit the third goal with half an hour remaining, with the help of an error by the normally reliable Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
