La Liga Title Race Blown Open As Real Madrid Drop Points

After Real Madrid conceded a late equaliser to drop points away from home against Real Valladolid, FC Barcelona now enter the final two matches of the season knowing that they hold their fate in their own hands

What a season. Whether we have divine intervention to thank or just pure luck, FC Barcelona are now not only back in the La Liga title race, but the Blaugrana are now the masters of their own destiny. Two wins from their remaining two fixtures, and the La Liga title remains in Catalunya for another season. Against all the odds, it's happening.

Who would have ever thought that it could be possible? After Barcelona conceded a 92nd minute equaliser to Angel Lafita on Saturday afternoon, the players conceded the title -- it was impossible. We had to rebuild for next season. And then Atletico Madrid lost. And then Real Madrid drew, and then they drew again. Two teams that were in such incredible form both hit a blip, and just like that, La Liga was back.

Of course, there are obstacles to overcome. Barcelona must defeat Elche at the weekend and recent form indicates that we can no longer take this as a given -- the once mighty Blaugrana, now fighting tooth and nail for every single victory, even against lowly Elche. But now we have something to fight for -- a light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

Let's get behind the players. Let's get behind the manager. Let's get behind the team and pray for two more great performances. We know they are capable. We know they have the desire and the talent to pull through. Let's have one last effort; for Carles Puyol. For Victor Valdes.

For Tito.

Hay Liga!
