Report: Ashley Cole receives offer from FC Barcelona

Reports from Daily Mail claim that Barcelona are interested in former Chelsea left-back, Ashley Cole

It's well-known that Barcelona are searching options to strenghten their defense. Well, there is one more defender in Barça's mind, but it's not a center-back.

At least that's what a report from Daily Mail suggests. Barcelona has allegedly made an offer to sign legendary left-back Ashley Cole, regarded as one of the best of his position in English football history. Cole, 33, is not under any contract after his former club, Chelsea, decided not to sign an extension and gave him the freedom to go anywhere he wants.

Ashley Cole's offer includes only salary and personal bonuses, since Barça wouldn't have to buy him from Chelsea. Cole is also reportedly studying offers from AC Milan and PSG -- because, you know, PSG wants everybody --, but the report suggests that he's more interested in Milan or Barça.

Cole is one of the "originals", the ones who played at Chelsea when Jose Mourinho first managed the team in 2004. Ten years later, he became a backup to Azpilicueta, who is actually a right-back. Cole's relationship with Mourinho was not the best ever -- SURPRISE, SURPRISE -- and the LB ended up playing less than 50% of the team's games last season. Cole also retired from England international football after he learned that he wasn't going to the World Cup.

What do you think, Barça fans? Should the team really want Ashley Cole? Are Alba and Adriano the answer at the left or do we need more experience? Heck, should Barça actually go after somebody they don't really need because they are Barcelona?
