The finish line is in sight and there are only two games left. The first one is the match that will decide who will round out the top three at the 2014 World Cup, and even though the game has been getting some bad press, namely from Netherlands coach, Luis van Gaal, the game is part of the World Cup tradition and it often proved to be more entertaining than the Final itself. Here's hoping both of the games will be great!
Brazil vs Netherlands, Kickoff: 10pm CET
Both teams lost in heartbreaking fashion in the Semi-Final against Germany and Argentina, respectively, but the two losses couldn't have been more different. Brazil were, there really isn't a nice way of saying this, humiliated 7-1 while the Dutch suffered through a penalty shootout loss after 120 minutes of competitive football.
According to bookmakers Brazil are going into the game as favorites, but I for one am not bold enough to make that statement. Not after losing Neymar and the cloud hovering above Thiago Silva who has not been training the past few days. Add to that the burden of a six goal loss and you have nearly a perfect recipe for another disaster in front of the home crowd. That being said I expect Silva to start the game.
Netherlands on the other hand surprised many at this World Cup by making it into the Semi-Finals. Their play wasn't always pleasing to the eye, but they certainly showed they can go toe-to-toe with the best international football can offer. Can the Dutch give another lesson to Brazil? We'll see, but it certainly isn't out of the question.
