FC Barcelona News: 20 July 2014; Barça Start the Preseason with a Win, Eight Internationals Return on Thursday

Recreativo Huelva v FC Barcelona: Winning start (0-1) | FC Barcelona
The Colombino Trophy match between Recreativo Huelva and Barça will always be remembered for being Luis Enrique’s debut as first team manager. In a game decided by a solitary second half goal from Joan Roman, most of the players were from the B team. Goalkeeper Ter Stegen got to make his debut, and although he didn’t have much to do, on the few occasions when he was called upon, he did well.

Barça had 15 attempts on goal, of which five were on target. Seven of those shots were in the first half and eight in the second. The home side only had three attempts and none of them were on target. Babunski and Diagne, with five each, recovered the most balls in the match.

Luis Enrique: "It's too early to draw conclusions" | FC Barcelona
Luis Enrique Martínez spoke to the press after Barça won 1-0 in Huelva. "All of the Barça B and first team players performed well" he said. "They took the game seriously. They showed dedication and we had chances. But we can’t draw conclusions yet. It’s too early."

Deulofeu: "We all know what we're here for and have to fight for our objectives" | FC Barcelona
After Barça’s win tonight, Gerard Deulofeu said "it seemed comfortable on both wings, the wide players had freedom to move. It wasn’t an easy game but we got the win and it’s helped with our fitness going into the rest of the preseason." He said he felt clam during the 45 minutes he was on the pitch, and added that "the Barça B players are a great help for our preparations".

From the reserves to the first team | FC Barcelona
Before Luis Enrique took over the first team, ten other FC Barcelona first team managers had previously run the reserves, although many of these did so as caretakers. For the record, the men were Jesza Poszoni, Ramon Llorens, Vicenç Sasot, Seguer, Laureano Ruiz, José Luis Romero, Rexach, Jesús Antonio de la Cruz, Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova.

Another week of double sessions | FC Barcelona
Monday will mark the start of the second week of training for the Barça first team. Once again, the players will be expected to report to the Ciutat Esportiva twice on most days. Those double sessions will be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, at 9.30 AM CET and 6.30 PM CET, while on Wednesday and Saturday there will only be morning sessions and on Sunday the players will have a day off.

Casemiro joins Porto on loan from Real Madrid - ESPN FC
Porto have signed Brazilian midfielder Casemiro on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. The 22-year-old, who moved to Madrid from Sao Paulo in January 2013, has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Real but could join Porto permanently next summer.
