FC Barcelona News: 24 July 2014; Eight Internationals Return to Barcelona, 2014-15 La Liga Fixture List Announced

FC Barcelona to kick off 2014/15 season against Elche | FC Barcelona
The fixture list for the 2014/15 season was announced just after noon on Thursday. FC Barcelona will be starting the campaign at home to Elche on the weekend of August 24 and 25. The final weekend of the championship will be on May 23 and 24, with Barça entertaining Deportivo at the Camp Nou. The weekend before, on May 17, they will have faced defending champions Atlético Madrid at the Vicente Calderón.

Suarez case heard by CAS next month | Football Espana
Luis Suarez’s appeal against his fourth month ban from all football for biting will be heard next month. Sport reports the Court of Arbitration for Sport will hear the Barcelona forward’s appeal in the second week of August. Suarez was banned for four months for biting Giorgio Chiellini and Barca haven’t been allowed to present the Uruguay international after signing him from Liverpool.

Luis Suarez ban to be reduced by CAS after Barcelona appeal -
"Now that the case has arrived at CAS, it is very likely that we will reduce the penalty," the source confirmed. "The ban would only apply to the Uruguay national team and not to Barcelona." Arbitrators at CAS are believed to agree with the consensus at Barcelona that Fifa's overall sanction against Suarez is excessive.

Spain's football federation (RFEF) has approved the use of vanishing spray to be used by referees in the country's top two divisions from next season. The spray, which was given worldwide exposure at the World Cup this summer, is used to mark the distance between the ball and the defensive wall at a free kick, making it harder for the defending side to encroach before the ball is kicked.

Keylor Navas will sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid once his move from Levante is finalised. AS reports Madrid will pay €10m for the Costa Rica international but want to clarify the future of Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez before pushing the deal through.

‘Arsenal have Casillas agreement’ | Football Espana
Reports in Spain claim Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, although not with his club. Sport say the Gunners have offered Casillas a five-year contract worth €9m-per-season but will only execute the deal if Madrid grant Casillas a free transfer.

Valencia agree loan deal for Benfica striker Rodrigo -
Valencia announced that it has agreed a one-year loan deal with Benfica for striker Rodrigo. The Real Madrid youth academy product joined the Eagles in 2010 and played a key role in last season's domestic treble success.
