Once upon a time, Bojan Krkic was a promising young forward with a lot of talent and striking skills. He debuted at Barcelona at age 17 and impressed everybody. For four years, he was a reliable option as a substitute for Lionel Messi, although he never became the star everybody expected. Since 2011, he's bounced around places like Italy and Netherlands, trying to find a new home, because Barça doesn't count on him anymore.
What's crazy is that Bojan is only 23 years old, but he still hasn't found a team that wants him as a big part of their project. He was loaned to Ajax last season, and had a decent year, but Ajax didn't show any interest to buy him out. Bojan still has one year left on his contract, and Barça is desperately looking to sell him somewhere.
And according to a report from Diario Sport, there are two strong candidates. Premier League's Arsenal FC wants to add young, quality pieces to their squad -- especially because people get hurt all the time over there -- and they're currently negotiating with Barça star Alexis Sánchez. If that doesn't work, Bojan would be a good option. The other front-runner is La Liga's Málaga. Since reaching the Champions League quarter-final in 2013, they came back to mediocrity, and are looking for additions that could boost the team and make it better. Bojan is a target, and they could begin negotiations with Barça, according to Sport.
Other candidate is Greece's Olympiacos, but they haven't shown any real interest. Deportivo La Coruña, fresh off promotion to La Liga, were also thrown into the mix, but the rumours quickly disappeared.
The most surprising thing is Bojan's buyout fee: 3 million euros. Seriously. That's Barcelona.
